Tomorrow (17/01/13), six IPACA Digital Leaders will be travelling to London for a special meeting at Mozilla. We will be attending the Student Digital Leaders Badgeathon (more information below). You can follow what we get up to throughout the day on this blog which will be updated by Mr. Spracklen.
For more information about the Digital Leaders Badgeathon please read below (from Mozilla):
On Thursday 17th January, over 40 people (adults and young
people) will be joining us for a fun, practical day of co-designing
Student Digital Leaders Open Badges at Mozilla UK London.
The day will be an opportunity to find out more about Open Badges, how they can be used for learning and to help shape an exciting new national badge programme. Students, teachers and industry (including Toshiba) have been invited to join us in the design process.
DigitalMe and Specialist Schools & Academies Trust will be working with teachers and students across the country to design and develop a groundbreaking accreditation system for students who take a lead in the use and implementation of technology, both in school and in their community.
The accreditation system will use Mozilla’s exciting Open Badges technology which was launched in 2011 and has the potential for recognising officially, the skills and achievements gained by learners (students and teachers) both in school and beyond. Any organisation or community can issue badges backed by their own seal of approval; and so learners collect badges from different sources and display them across the web – on their websites, social networking profiles, job sites or anywhere online!
